Description
Dear Approval Committee12th February 2025
RE: Reference request for Dr Helen McIntyre, Birmingham City University (BCU) for the approval process for Associate Professor
I have known the applicant since 2019, as I have worked in collaboration to deliver visiting lecturer sessions in programmes, that Helen has been the Associate Professor for Midwifery, programme lead and departmental deputy at the University of Leicester. Since Helen returned to BCU, I have worked with Helen to create a Global MSc in Assisted Reproduction, Helen is the academic advisor from the university and has helped educate the module team at Care Fertility on the academic requirements for this work-based learning collaboration, which we are also marketing to external providers. Helen has a wealth of academic knowledge, aside from her midwifery knowledge, and is excellent at relating this knowledge to non-academics such as myself. This module is innovative, as the global elements means that for a specialist area such as infertility, there will be a global demand. Our first module run had 20 applicants and the first international student enrolled. Helen has helped us navigate the material, the teaching, and the online platform and technology, to receive great feedback from our first cohort of students.
For midwifery students within BCU, Helen has created clinical placements, within our 24 clinics, which enriches their learning experience, and prepares them for the growing number of infertility patients who they will meet in their future careers. Helen is a dedicated professional, who is true ambassador for BCU, its students and the future workforce of midwifery and nursing. I feel very lucky to have Helen as an academic role model, and support to promote education within Care Fertility and the wider Assisted Reproduction sector.
Please contact me if you require any further clarification or information
