The Centre for the Study of Practice and Culture in Education (CSPACE) is an inclusive and interdisciplinary research community that bridges all phases of education and related policy fields. The 2026 CSPACE Conference focuses on how positionality and standpoint: the researcher’s situatedness in the city, wider society and the world provides important and often unique insights that are essential in advancing social justice, addressing structural inequalities and creating opportunities for all.This conference was a space to share the research of research staff and educators from the School and forge meaningful connections with others. It was also an opportunity for our students from Under-graduate, Masters and Doctoral students to showcase their knowledge-making activities.
This conference brought together 90 delegates, from both BCU and other institutions, ranging from current under-graduate students, through Post Graduate Researchers to experienced professorial researchers. The conference theme was Positionality and standpoint: acknowledging and valuing experience in research.
Following a keynote by Dr Tracy Hayes: "Finding Your Voice, Finding Your Place: What I Wish I'd Known as a Doctoral Researcher", the conference ran a series of 40 parallel chaired sessions and workshops.
