Description

The First Conference on Gen-AI in the Built Environment was a one-day international conference held on 28 November 2025 at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), Nottingham, UK. Co-organised by NTU, the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB), ATLAS SkillTech University (India), and the Council of Heads of the Built Environment (CHOBE), the conference brought together industry professionals, academics, researchers, policymakers, and technology developers to critically examine the opportunities and challenges of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen-AI) across the built environment sector.
The conference featured two keynote addresses, three concurrent parallel panels covering Industry, Teaching and Learning (SoTL), and Research themes, an industry roundtable, and a closing plenary session. It attracted contributions from a wide range of national and international institutions, with presentations addressing AI-driven design and construction workflows, ethical and pedagogical implications of Gen-AI, assessment innovation, research methodologies, and workforce upskilling. The event provided a multidisciplinary platform for cross-sector knowledge exchange and collaborative dialogue on the responsible and effective adoption of Gen-AI in professional practice and higher education.
