The Sparkles is a staff appreciation awards event for the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment (CEBE) at Birmingham City University. The 2024 ceremony recognised outstanding contributions across six award categories: The Teaching Exemplar, The Researcher, The Paragon Award, The Collective Award, The Global Award, and The Gratitude Award. The awards celebrate staff achievement in teaching innovation, research engagement, professional commitment, team excellence, alignment with BCU core values, and long-serving dedication to the faculty. As a member of the organising committee, responsibilities included contributing to the strategic shaping of the event, proposing and refining award categories, reviewing nominations, and shortlisting candidates prior to presentation to the Senior Leadership Team and the awards evening.
