    Description of impact

    I am the principal researcher and analyst of the NGO Iraq Body Count (IBC) -twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize- whose work is cited in a 2023 report by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the 'Impact of casualty recording on the promotion and protection of human rights'. It which makes references to the work of Iraq Body Count on pages 5, 8 and 11.

    Iraq Body Count is referenced in connection with the impact of casualty recording on human rights:
    In contributions to the European Asylum Support Office, determining international protection status of civilians from Iraq.
    In use of IBC data by the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court and United Nations Assistance Mission Iraq. Iraq Body Count’s casualty records were used by the ICC, the inquiry into Iraq by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and by the UNAMI Human Rights Office.
    In use of IBC casualty records by the UK Parliament in discussions on the human cost of military interventions in Iraq, during debates on proposed military intervention in Syria.
