Research and Innovation interests
Dr Abiodun Adegbile is an Associate Professor in Management (International business and Entrepreneurship) at Birmingham City Business School, Birmingham City University. He is the current research cluster lead for International Business and Strategy. He has previously held academic positions at Nottingham Business School and Coventry Business School.
His research interests encompass international business, entrepreneurship, and strategic management, with a particular focus on African developing economies and other emerging markets. He draws on a broad range of theories like the social network theory, the resource-based theories, institutional theory, etc. as a meta-theoretical lens for his research. He has authored several articles in top refereed academic journals and actively contributes to the academic community through various roles, including serving on scientific committees, peer reviewers and editorial boards.
He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Economics from the European University Viadrina, Germany.
Teaching Interests
Abiodun is a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and specialises in teaching International Business and Strategy.
He has been involved extensively in the teaching and learning activities at UK HEs where he has taught and led strategy and international business modules both at the undergraduate (L5 & L6) and postgraduate (L7 - MSc, MBA and Executive MBA) levels. He has proven experience in the design, development, and delivery of courses and modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Business Engagement interests
Beyond academia, he is actively engaged in consultancy for businesses, providing expert insights on market entry strategies, business growth, and competitive positioning. He also has a keen interest in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in business, particularly how AI-driven strategies can enhance decision-making, competitiveness, and innovation within organisations. His work bridges the gap between theory and practice, supporting organisations in navigating complex business environments.
