Personal profile
Research and Innovation interests
Her research focuses on commercial accommodation both at an operational and a historical level. She has recently completed her PhD which explored the external perceptions of hotel work as a career choice and how this has evolved over time. This has extended into an exploration of heritage hotels and how the architecture in them embodies and enforces social norms. As such the research also draws an understanding of the philosophies behind the meaning of work in a social and economic sense and how these influence problems currently faced by the hospitality industry such as staff turnover suggesting potential new models for these.
