Personal profile

Research and Innovation interests

My research explores the psychosocial determinants of health and wellbeing, with a particular focus on how identity, stigma, belonging, and social context shape health behaviours and engagement with healthcare. I have a strong interest in health inequalities experienced by LGBTQ+ communities and other marginalised populations, examining how psychological and social processes influence prevention, healthcare utilisation, and mental wellbeing.

My work sits at the intersection of health psychology, public health, and social psychology, with current research spanning HIV prevention, sexual health, digital cultures, health communication, and creative health interventions. Increasingly, I am interested in how identity processes operate across contemporary social issues, including online environments, relationships, community participation, and preventative health behaviours.

Methodologically, I work across both quantitative and qualitative paradigms, employing approaches including structural equation modelling, latent profile and latent class analysis, mediation and moderation analyses, psychometric scale development, corpus linguistics, and reflexive thematic analysis. I am particularly interested in combining person-centred statistical approaches with qualitative methodologies to better understand the complexity of lived experience.
