Personal profile
Research and Innovation interests
Building on my doctoral thesis, I am currently investigating the role of creative teaching in drama education. In relation to this, I am also researching the formation of drama teacher identity. The aims of my research include:
- To explore the co-constructive planning process of using personal resources, oral history, family stories, and intersectionality to create meaningful and engaging drama learning in a school context.
- To explore the continuing role of developing the drama pedagogy of Early Career Teachers (ECTs) beyond formal education and training
- To explore the impact of the secondary education system on drama as a subject; drama as a pedagogical approach to teaching and learning; and drama as a collaborative process of meaning-making between researcher, teacher and pupils
Teaching Interests
As the course leader for the PGCE(International) and PGDE (International), a significant amount of my teaching involves collaboration with the Indus Training and Research Institute (ITARI) in Bangalore, India. This partnership seeks to develop teachers' practice in an international context, with many of our students working in International Schools.
