1. Bioenergy: Thermochemical/biochemical/physical conversion of biomass for energy including gasification, pyrolysis, torrefaction and carbonization. The design and processes optimization for efficient biomass-to-energy conversion. Combination of processes for efficient energy production.

2. Sustainable Manufacturing: Development and optimization of new materials from bio-based resources for application in manufacturing and construction for enhanced sustainability.

3. Engineering systems modelling, simulation and optimization.
