Dr. Kashan Pirzada earned his PhD in Accounting from the University of Malaya. He began his academic career in 2009 at Bahria University, where he also completed his MBA. A dedicated academic in financial accounting and corporate governance, Dr. Pirzada has taught a wide range of financial reporting modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including serving as Module Leader for ACCA Strategic Business Reporting. He has supervised numerous honours, master’s, and doctoral students at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and other institutions.
Before joining Birmingham City University, Dr. Pirzada was a Senior Lecturer in Financial Accounting at the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA-UUM) and an Associate Fellow of the Asian Research Institute for Corporate Governance (ARICG). He has held various academic leadership roles, including programme coordination and membership in key administrative committees such as the EFMD Accreditation Team. His contributions have been recognised with the UUM Excellent Service Award (2020) and the GCBSS Distinguished Academic Award (2022).
Dr. Pirzada’s research focuses on corporate governance, corporate reporting, accounting disclosure, and CSR/sustainability issues (IFRS S1 and S2) across developing, emerging, and advanced economies. His work has been published in several high-impact journals, including the International Journal of Disclosure and Governance, Australian Accounting, Business and Finance Journal, Social Responsibility Journal, Cogent Business and Management, Journal of Risk and Financial Management, and the International Journal of Economics and Management.
Actively engaged in the academic community, Dr. Pirzada serves on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals, including the International Journal of Ethics and Systems, Polish Journal of Management Studies, and Accounting and Finance Review. He also leads editorial initiatives as Lead Guest Editor for The International Journal of Accounting (CABS 3*), Foresight, and STI Governance. Beyond academia, he contributes thought pieces as a columnist for The Epoch Times, The Spectator, and Quadrant.
