Research and Innovation interests
Nick's research focuses on the range in ways in which history and games are entangled, exploring history in, of and around games. He is also interested in the relationships between games and nations, including in terms of cultural policy and soft power. Nick is Director of the Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research, where he leads the Game Cultures research cluster with Charlotte Stevens. Along with Esther Wright (Cardiff) and Iain Donald (Edinburgh Napier), he is one of the convenors of the Historical Games Network.
