Research and Innovation interests
Samantha is the Head of Department for Accountancy and Governance and has strategic responsibility for Education and Student Experience for Birmingham City Business School at Birmingham City University. Her research interests lie mainly in the areas of pedagogy, particularly as it relates to the accounting disciplines, and student engagement and experience. Recent initiatives have focussed on personal tutoring to foster collaborative opportunities, understanding student expectations in a post Covid environment and work to support the closing of attainment gaps.
Samantha has many years of commercial experience including working in the commercial banking industry and in financial management functions within the SME sector in the UK. A CIMA qualified accountant she has worked in the HE Sector since 2007. Her specialist areas of teaching are Taxation and Management Accounting with an emphasis on strategic performance management.
