Shaista Mukadam

After completing an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Shaista joined a professional audit firm to pursue her ICAEW in India. She passed both the Intermediate and final examinations in the first attempt while working on statutory and tax audits in blue chip companies. She also worked as a trainee in a Tata group of companies and gained valuable experience in budgeting, end of year accounting and payroll processing. Once qualified she joined Motorola and continued working as an Accounts Executive. 

After moving to the UK she worked in various positions as a Purchase Ledger assistant and a contracts accountant. Following a five year career break she trained as a Lecturer by completing the City and Guilds qualifications as well as her PGCE .In order to gain experience in teaching, started as a visiting lecturer in Halesowen College, Bournville College and Birmingham City University. Delivered financial and management accounting modules on various programmes and was able to prepare and deliver materials as well as write and mark assessments at various levels of the Undergraduate degrees. As a full time staff in 2010 started working on the validation of the modules for the Accounting and Finance programmes as well as additional responsibilities of personal tutor and Module Leader. 

From 2016 have been involved in the Year Leader role of Year 2 in charge of placements, co-ordinating the personal tutors of the Year and in charge of Induction and pastoral care for the Year 2 students. 

From 2017 became the Course Director for one of the programmes while continuing the Year leader role and planning and executing various initiatives to improve the student experience. 

In 2021 introduced an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Islamic Finance accredited by the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.
