Research and Innovation interests
Wenyu is an Associate Professor in Economics and Economics Subject Group Lead. She joined Birmingham City Business School in 2022. Prior to this, she was the Course Leader for Doctorates in Business Administration (DBA), Deputy Chair of the School Research Degree Committee and the Course Leader for BA Business Management and Economics course at Nottingham Trent University.
She is a senior fellow of Higher Education Academy (HEA) and the external examiner of undergraduate Economics modules at the University of Westminster.
She teaches Statistics, Microeconomics, Econometrics and International Economics at undergraduate level and supervises undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students. Wenyu has an interest in incorporating the use of statistical softwares such as Eviews and Minitab into the teaching of undergraduate/postgraduate courses.
Wenyu’s research interests are in investigating the determinants of FDI, the relationship between FDI and growth, trade and growth, tourism and trade, exports and FDI, FDI and entrepreneurship. She has published a number of journal articles in Applied Economics, International Journal of Entrepreneurship Behaviour and Research. Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, Local Economy, Growth and Change, Papers in Regional Science.
