Abstract
The twenty-four-year history of Visual Culture in Britain has coincided with numerous transformations to the economic, social and political conditions under which our intellectual labour takes place. As incoming editors, we are mindful of remaining attentive to those substantial histories, legacies and possible futures. We are relaunching the journal at a moment in which the geopolitical pressures on scholars working in particular fields or from specific locations feel distinctly acute: we are compelled to examine Britain’s role within this global picture and to seek ways of articulating solidarity with scholars globally.
