Abstract
In 2000, Professor Ysanne Holt (University of Northumbria) set out to establish a journal that sought to ‘produce a stimulating, lively dialogue about the changing role and status of diverse visual cultures within one nation’ (2000: 2). Over that period of time, and with the support of Paul Barlow, Visual Culture in Britain strove for an interdisciplinarity that ‘never loses sight of the historical specificity of cultural production and consumption’ (2000: 3). A vision that was maintained under the editorial stewardship of Richard Baxstrom, Angela McClanahan and Neil Mulholland from 2015–2021. The newly appointed editorial board, Gary Bratchford, Sara Dominici and Victoria Horne, with Edwin Coomasaru as reviews editors, seek to build on their work.
