Abstract

‘can you hear it?’ investigates if there is any difference between a field recording taken by an artist themselves as opposed to using a found one. These samples are contrasted and combined questioning the notion of a personal relationship with material. By placing a current way of working ‘under the microscope’ this piece is an original and response to the idea of ‘style’ in composition.
