Abstract

Despite increasing global diversity, the current leader and leadership development literature remains heavily focused on majority populations and has not thoroughly explored the intersections of self-leadership, career orientation, and multicultural awareness for non-White business students. This paper addresses this gap by examining how self-leadership influences learning satisfaction and learning outcomes, and how career orientation and multicultural awareness mediate or moderate these relationships via the social information process perspective. In doing so, it provides critical insights that can inform more inclusive and effective leadership development strategies tailored to a diverse student body. Overall, this research clarifies the conditions under which self-leadership fosters a more fulfilling learning experience, underscores the importance of culturally aware interventions, and highlights the complex interplay of personal and contextual factors in leadership development for underrepresented, non-White learners.
