Danger in the Field: ethics and risk in qualitative research

Stephanie Linkogle

    Research output: Book/ReportBookpeer-review

    Abstract

Danger in the field is the first text in Social Sciences to address risk and danger to researchers. Using a typology developed by the Editors, the book examines physical danger, emotional/psychological, ethical and professional risks. It was republished four times and is to be found in all leading academic libraries, hard copy and electronic, even over 20 years on from publication.

The book was used to structure an EU-wide initiative called RESPECT, which attempted to place researcher risk high on social research agendas across the European areas by engaging universities to adopt the Lee-Treweek and Linkogle four-part typology and use it within ethics evaluations.
