Abstract
Cedric Price was a renowned 20th century architectural provocateur, creating a lasting impact on contemporary architectural thinking and educational practices. For the first time, structural prototypes designed by Price for the Westal Market stall is on display alongside a selection of archival materials and original drawings from seminal projects such as The Potteries Thinkbelt and Fun Palace with Joan Littlewood.
For the Birmingham chapter of the tour, Delightful Fun was curated with the inaugural exhibition of the school’s Artist in Residence initiative.
Presenting work by Emily John, a multi-disciplinary artist whose work explores identity and class through a fusion of modern industrial technologies and traditional print methodologies. With a strong connection to her British working-class heritage, her practice examines the domestic impact of industry, using its "own tongue" to open discussions on class equality. The curation alongside Price’s work opens a dialogue on industry, society, and innovation.
