Abstract
Dugong was commissioned by pianist/researcher Ikuko Inoguchi and first performed on December 6th 2025 at the Iris Axon Concert Series in London. The piece was part of an ongoing project of Ikuko inoguchi in which she commissions composers to respond to fauna of Japan. The piece is in two short movements entitled: i. Ground Feeder, ii. Coming up for Air. This output is a continuation of Cutler's trans-cultural compositional research, in particlular with East Asia, as demonstrated in Just Passing Through (2021), a collaboration with Seoul National University's Traditional Music Department.
