N2 - This chapter explores the value of podcasting in UK planning undergraduate studies. It presents the findings of a research project carried out from Spring 2020 at the start of the first COVID-19 lockdown by an interdisciplinary research team of academics, an education developer , and students on the use of podcasts in placemaking studies in Higher Education (HE) . The starting point for this project, funded by an internal grant from the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment at Birmingham City University, had been the experience of teaching on a final year undergraduate planning module devised pre-COVID lockdown. In this pre-pandemic module, named Drivers of Change, podcasts were for the first time introduced both as an innovative teaching and learning method (in the form of freely available podcasts from various digital platforms ) and as a form of assessment (in the form of students-generated podcasts) . The aim was to introduce novelty to the learning experience of students in their final year of studies.
