    Abstract

    This chapter analyses the significance of Pound's attempts to provide a musical theory in The Treatise on Harmony. it connects Pound's shifting approach to music with changes in his poetics and politics, identifying the influences behind his altering approach to music: as something to generate new meanings in poetry, or as something that can be rationalised and explained with mathematics.
