UPR Project at BCU Myanmar Report

This Stakeholder Report recommends that Myanmar makes comparable positive commitments in the Third Cycle of the UPR, this time for the ratification of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Second Optional Protocol to the ICCPR aiming at the abolition of the death penalty. To facilitate this legislative process we call for the initiation of an official moratorium on the death penalty, as a step toward domestic de jure abolition, and following this to take the commendable decision to contribute to the worldwide efforts to abolish the punishment.
